Today's program is just what I need to use an external MAC HD as another drive. Only problem is the MAC I/O connector doesn't plug into the USB port of my Windows machine. It also pays to have a UPS because a glitch on the power line can cause all sorts of problems when the HD is writing data. I then copied the weekly copy to the other two drives and in less than an hour I was back in business. I just switched on the weekly copy HD (that I had just updated with no problem) and was up and running immediately. I've used Paragon backup software for many years and yes -one- time something happened and it wiped out my main drive AND the monthly copy. I make a copy each weekend and a monthly copy to another drive. Then if the main HD gets scrambled or refuses to boot I just switch the B/U HD on and boot from that and copy it to the main HD. If that drive fails how do you restore it (as you found out, you usually can't). You shouldn't be making a back up to the drive that might fail. So, does anyone know of a way to read APFS drives from HFS+ booted OSX systems - or is that a privilege reserved for Windows and Linux users? You could change the date on your computer, but this is a pain. Even if you have a copy of it (which I do) it has a timer making it cease to function post 2018. Paragon did have a free APFS driver for legacy OSX but they've removed it. If you run Windows you can get an APFS driver from paragon: APFS for Windowsīut if you run OSX (pre APFS) there's no driver. If you run linux you can get an APFS driver from Paragon: APFS for Linux When I boot in Mountain Lion the Mojave APFS drive doesn't show and instead comes up with a 'pop up' asking to initialize the drive! I can't access the APFS HD when I'm booted in a legacy HD (Mountain Lion or Sierra) - is there a kext or driver to enable OSX HFS+ to read an APFS drive? Hi all, I've got a multiple boot machine with a Mojave APFS volume on it. Building a CustoMac Hackintosh: Buyer's Guide
